A grudge match for the ages. The Illawarra Hawks beat the Westars in the first round of the 1986 season by one point. After many protests by the Westars due to a 3 pointer being noted as a 2 early in the game, the NBL issued the game to be replayed later in the season.

Last quarter highlights of Illawarra Hawks vs N.M Giants in 1989 at the Snakepit. Hawks went down by 1 point with 2 seconds to go & Bruce Palmer is given a controversial bench technical which sends Greg Hubbard to the line to win the game for the Hawks.
The next night the Giants lose on the buzzer to the Canberra Cannons. |
